Farm Policies

Personal Pets and Service Animals

  • Poplar Creek Farm is not pet friendly and you will need to leave pets at home. Poplar Creek Farm is home to a working guardian dog who is not expected to be welcoming to outside pets.
  • Task trained service dogs will be accommodated to the best of our ability. Emotional Support Animals and Therapy Animals are not welcome.
  • As defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act, a “service animal means any dog that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability, including a physical, sensory, psychiatric, intellectual, or other mental disability.”
  • The ADA limits the definition of Service Animals to dogs and miniature horses. Therapy dogs, emotional support dogs and companion dogs are not Service Animals and are not afforded the same privileges in public places.
  • Your service dog must be on leash, under control, and may not be disruptive or display aggression. Service dogs who display aggression to people or animals, disrupt normal operations, or bark/whine/growl (outside of a medical alert) will not be allowed at Poplar Creek Farm, per ADA guidelines. Access to and feeding farm animals

  • As part of your tour, you will enter the alpaca pen where you can hand-feed the alpacas from behind an access-friendly fence. This special feeding area is for your safety as well as the safety of the alpacas. We will provide the feed for the alpacas.  No outside feed is permitted.
  • The Dexter cattle are a bit more independent and not open to petting. We’ll get as close as possible.  If there is a calf in the field, we will need to respect the mother and keep a distance.

What our visitors say!

The farm tour was the highlight of our day. You can tell that Ann and Larry have put a lot of work and love into the farm. We enjoyed learning about it and, most of all, we loved getting to feed and pet the alpacas! Luke the dog was so friendly and cute too.

The tour offered of the farm was a special bonus - our toddler great-niece and -nephew staying in a house nearby LOVED feeding the alpacas (as did the adults) - Ann and Larry were generous with their time and sharing info about the alpacas, chickens, etc. and were very patient and sweet with the toddlers.
